Sillustani, a pre-Inca cemetery approximately 40 minutes from Puno, is an impressive complex of burial tombs dating from the twelfth century.
The different Chullpas or funerary towers that measure up to 12 meters in height where they buried their nobles: the chiefs and priests, are characterized because their base is smaller in diameter than the upper part.
In the tombs, different types of offerings were found, especially the funeral tower of the lizard, the royal trousseau of a nobleman was found with more than 500 gold pieces, these pieces are exhibited in the Carlos Dreyer museum in the city of Puno.
