In this tour of two days and one night we will visit the Colca Canyon, well known for its depth being one of the deepest in the world (TWICE deeper than the Grand Canyon), at the same time we can appreciate the legendary and elegant flight of one of the largest birds in the world, the Andean condor.

On the way we will visit its colorful and traditional villages where you can enjoy delicious dishes made with local products.

You will also enjoy and relax in the healing thermal waters of La Calera. An experience not to be missed in Arequipa.

How far is Colca from Arequipa?

The Colca Canyon is located about 4 hours from the city of Arequipa.

What to bring?

For this day tour you can bring only a small backpack or bag. Large luggage can stay at your accommodation in Arequipa.

Will we see condors on this tour?

We cannot guarantee that you will see condors, but the chances are pretty good almost all year round. The Cruz del Condor viewpoint is famous for being the best place in South America to see the Andean Condor in flight.

What is the best season to travel to the Colca Canyon?

In Colca you can travel at any time of the year without any problem, however the best time is between March and June, when the rainy season is over.

where should i pay the tourist ticket?

There are two checkpoints where tourists can purchase their tourist tickets:
  • Just before the entrance to Chivay.
  • Halfway to Cruz del Condor.

Cash is required to purchase this ticket, as electronic payments are not accepted.

CONDITIONS

  • Free cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Prices are not valid on long holidays (Christmas, New Year, Easter, national holidays), to these dates are added a percentage.
  • To confirm your reservation, a 50% advance payment of the service is required.
  • If an invoice is required, the IGV 18% is not included in the price.
  • The tours are in shared and private service depending on how you contracted.

DAY 1: AREQUIPA / CHIVAY

06:00 H.

pick up from the hotel and breakfast

We will go to your hotel in Arequipa from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. (this is the recommended departure time, but since it is a private service, the schedules can be totally modified at your convenience). During the way we will increase the altitude and we will be able to make different stops for acclimatization.

We will pass through Pampa Cañahuas (Aguada Blanca and Salinas National Reserve), habitat of vicuñas, beautiful South American camelids. If you wish, after that, we will visit Patahuasi very close to be able to drink the traditional Mate de coca, a traditional drink essential for altitude sickness. In the truck we will be able to appreciate migratory birds and if we are lucky we will see the flamingos.

We will also cross the crater of an extinct volcano, called Chucura and we will stop at the volcano viewpoint, being the highest point of the entire route with 4800 meters above sea level, from where we will appreciate a large part of the western mountain range. and there will be approximately 40 minutes left to reach Chivay.

13:30 H.

Arrival to Chivay

We will arrive in the Colca Valley from approximately 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. where they will settle in their lodging in Chivay or Yanque surroundings. Then we will have lunch.

16:00 H.

Visit to the thermal baths of La Calera.

In the afternoon we will enjoy the thermal baths in La Calera (you can bathe if you wish), you will enjoy these relaxing and medicinal thermal waters that have a temperature between 35º C to 38º C.

20:00 H.

Dinner with folkloric show

To end the day they will have a dinner accompanied by a folkloric show with typical dances of the area.

DAY 2: CHIVAY / CONDOR CROSS / CHIVAY / AREQUIPA

06:00 H.

Breakfast at your hotel

We will get up early to take advantage of the hotel breakfast and then we will take our vehicle to visit the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint.

06:30 H.

We start the route to the viewpoint of Cruz del Cóndor.

Here we can see the majestic condors that can measure up to 3 meters with outstretched wings. We will be able to visit the viewpoint, observe them in flight and take incredible photos.

On the way back to Chivay we will make some stops in the towns of Pinchollo, Maca and Yanque, towns with beautiful colonial churches and viewpoints where we can observe the impressive terraces of the Valley.

12:00 H.

Lunch in Chivay

We will make a stop for lunch in a tourist restaurant and then we will return to Arequipa.

13:00 H.

Return to the city of Arequipa with stops.

We will start the return to the city of Arequipa, we can make some stops along the way if you wish.

17:00 H.

Arrival to Arequipa city

Finally we will arrive in the center of Arequipa and we will leave you at the door of your accommodation where the tour will end.
