In this full day tour (1 day) we will visit the Colca Canyon, which is well known for its depth being one of the deepest in the world (TWICE deeper than the Grand Canyon), at the same time we can appreciate the legendary and elegant flight of one of the largest birds in the world, the Andean condor.

On the way we will visit its colorful and traditional villages where you can enjoy delicious dishes made with local products.

You will also enjoy and relax in the healing thermal waters of Calera.

How far is Colca from Arequipa?

The Colca Canyon is located about 4 hours from the city of Arequipa.

What to bring?

For this day tour you can bring only a small backpack or bag. Large luggage can stay at your accommodation in Arequipa.

We cannot guarantee that you will see condors, but the chances are pretty good almost all year round. The Cruz del Condor viewpoint is famous for being the best place in South America to see the Andean Condor in flight.

What is the best season to travel to the Colca Canyon?

In Colca you can travel at any time of the year without any problem, however the best time is between March and June, when the rainy season is over.

where should i pay the tourist ticket?

There are two checkpoints where tourists can purchase their tourist tickets:
  • Just before the entrance to Chivay.
  • Halfway to Cruz del Condor.

Cash is required to purchase this ticket, as electronic payments are not accepted.

CONDITIONS

  • Free cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Prices are not valid on long holidays (Christmas, New Year, Easter, national holidays), to these dates are added a percentage.
  • To confirm your reservation, a 50% advance payment of the service is required.
  • If an invoice is required, the IGV 18% is not included in the price.
  • The tours are in shared and private service depending on how you contracted.

We pick you up from your hotel

We will go to your hotel in Arequipa from 3:00 to 3:30 in the morning (this is the recommended departure time to arrive early and be able to see the condors). After 4 hours of travel, we will head directly to Cruz del Condor, only stopping in the town of Chivay for breakfast.

08:30 H.

Arrival at Cruz del Cóndor lookout point

Here we will be able to see the majestic condors that can reach up to 3 meters with their wings outstretched. We will be able to walk around the viewpoint, observe them in flight and take incredible pictures.

On the way back to Chivay we will make some stops in the villages of Pinchollo, Maca and Yanque, towns with beautiful colonial churches and where we will be able to observe the impressive mountain range of the valley.

11:30 H.

Visit to the thermal baths of La Calera.

We will arrive to Chivay to visit the hot springs (where you can bathe if you wish), you will enjoy these relaxing and medicinal hot springs that have a temperature between 35 to 38º C.

12:30 H.

Lunch in the town of Chivay

We will stop for lunch at a tourist restaurant and then we will return to Arequipa.

13:30 H.

Return to the city of Arequipa with stops in Arequipa

We will stop at the viewpoint of the volcanoes, which is the highest point of the entire route that reaches 4800 meters above sea level (the transport will have oxygen in case you need it for altitude sickness), where you have a privileged view of the volcanoes that surround the area and we will also stop at the Pampa Cañahuas national reserve, home of vicuñas and alpacas.

17:00 H.

Arrival to Arequipa city

Finally we will arrive to the center of Arequipa and we will leave you at the door of your lodging where the tour will end.
